When Hurricane Helene struck Transylvania County in September 2024, it caused catastrophic flooding, landslides, and widespread damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure. Thousands of buildings were damaged or destroyed, leaving many families—especially in rural, low-income, and underserved areas—without safe, livable housing. Recovery will take years, and many households remain in limbo, struggling to access support.
FWRD Transylvania is the county’s Long-Term Recovery Group, coordinating nonprofit, faith-based, and government partners to restore homes, renew lives, and prepare for future disasters. Your donation directly supports these efforts—by funding neighbor needs not covered by insurance or government aid, supplying construction materials, and staffing critical case management and rebuilding teams.
